Residents of Birmingham might be pleased to learn that their city has made the list of the top ten cities in the world.
And what’s not to like? According to the travel publisher Rough Guides, Birmingham is brimming with vintage shops and street food stalls and 2015 is ‘an ideal time to visit’ with New Street Station’s renovation due to be unveiled next year.
Pretty convenient if you live in the UK.
It’s also the only UK destination to make the list, joining the likes of Johannesburg, Hamburg and New Orleans.
Although the guide admits it isn’t full of must-see sights, it describes the city as one that has a ‘first rate restaurant scene and nightlife.’
So whilst it may not be the perfect place for breathtaking views, it makes a great destination for a weekend of eating, shopping and nights out.
